The people, about 1,400 communities, who lived in the Boreal Forest, rely on resource industries for livelihood and stability. They had many ways of making a living. In the early 1700s, everyone made a living by trapping but ever since the early 1900s, most of the people who currently live there are into the largest industries like logging, mining, tourism, trapping, recreation, light manufacturing, oil and gas exploration, and hydroelectric development.
